The Sheep Ate My Garden (And Honestly… I’m Not Even Mad)
π The Sheep Took Over the Garden (And Honestly… I’m Not Even Mad)
Well… the sheep won.
At some point recently, my sweet little flock decided that my garden was actually their garden — and they completely cleaned it out.
Every. Single. Plant.
I walked outside expecting to check on winter growth and instead found what can only be described as a very efficient landscaping crew. Not a leaf left behind. Not even a stem.
They were standing there looking at me like, “You’re welcome.”
πΏ Sheep: 1
Dana’s Garden: 0
This is real farm life here in Coleman, Florida.
No filters. No Pinterest-perfect rows. Just sheep with big appetites and absolutely no respect for fencing boundaries.
Honestly though, this is part of what makes staying at Dana’s Florida Getaways so different from a regular hotel near The Villages. It’s peaceful, yes — but it’s also real life on a small farm. Sometimes that includes baby sheep. Sometimes it includes surprise garden demolition.
πΈ The Unexpected Upside
On the bright side?
The beds are completely cleared now. The soil is open. The “winter cleanup” is finished — whether I planned it that way or not.
So technically… spring planting is right on schedule.
I’m already planning fresh herbs and vegetables for the new season. And maybe slightly stronger boundaries between sheep and produce.
π£ Just Off I-75… But A Whole Different World
For guests staying with us near I-75 Exit 321 (CR 470 / Lake Panasoffkee) or visiting The Villages, these little farm surprises are part of the charm.
You might wake up to quiet mornings, wide open skies, and sheep casually rearranging landscaping plans.
It’s not manicured. It’s not suburban. It’s just peaceful rural Florida — a few minutes from Lake Panasoffkee and the Turnpike, but it feels a world away.
πΎ Yes, We’re Still Pet-Friendly
And don’t worry — our pet-friendly stays in Coleman welcome well-behaved dogs… just not garden-raiding sheep.
π Moral of the Story
