Sheep and Chickens on Our Florida Mini Farm | Dana’s Florida Getaways
Sheep and Chickens on Our Florida Mini Farm
A little real-life farm update from Dana’s Florida Getaways near The Villages, Florida.
Today on the mini farm, we moved the sheep into the same area as the free-ranging chickens, and it made for one of those simple little farm moments that reminds me why I love this peaceful place so much.
At first, everyone was just walking around, grazing, pecking, and minding their business. The chickens seemed pretty comfortable, and the sheep were curious but calm. Marlene and Darlene were especially interested in their new feathered neighbors.
Then one chicken got just a little too close to Marlene.
Beulah, being the mama sheep that she is, gave the chicken a gentle little nudge as if to say, “That is close enough.” The chicken got the message and walked away like nothing happened.
It was such a small moment, but those are the moments that make farm life feel special — the personalities, the funny little interactions, and the quiet rhythm of animals figuring each other out.

A Peaceful Stay Near The Villages
If you are looking for a quiet, pet-friendly place to stay near The Villages, our rentals offer a more personal alternative to a hotel. Guests love the peaceful setting, easy check-in, simple checkout, and the little touches that make a stay feel cozy and welcoming.
The farm animals are part of the charm of our main property, and while every visit is different, guests often enjoy seeing little glimpses of farm life during their stay.
Some days it is sheep grazing in the yard. Some days it is chickens wandering through the leaves. And some days, apparently, it is Beulah politely reminding a chicken about personal space.
